TEENS
Dr. Krichmar has extensive experience working with adolescents and teens in different settings: private practice, school, outpatient clinic, and at their home. Just like with adults, she utilizes a Cognitive Behavioral and a Dialectical Behavioral approach (CBT/DBT) to help teens understand how their thoughts, feelings and behavior are interconnected and how changing their thoughts and self-talk can reduce the intensity of their feelings. Dr. Krichmar’s particular area of expertise is short-term crisis intervention and therapy. She has extensive experience working with a high-risk population and is well versed in risk assessment and crisis intervention. Some of the issues with which her teen clients struggle include:

Dr. Krichmar is an expert at engaging teens in a therapeutic process. Her style is open and direct and she is not afraid to bring up and discuss sensitive topics. Dr. Krichmar thinks outside the box when working to stabilize her clients, tailors the treatment to each teen's individual needs and engages them in making lasting changes. Dr. Krichmar is able to hear and address teenage “angst” in a direct and supportive way, while at the same time understanding and addressing parents’ fears, worries and needs.
